Plans for the year 2006 – 07

Promotion of research & counseling among faculty
Starting of UGC Remedial coaching classes for the benefit of slow learners.
To strengthen counseling, guidance & placement cell.

 
PART - B
Many staff members of our College are engaged in research work & some of them have submitted their dissertation and thesis for the award of M.Phils and P.hD’s

The administration is working with UGC to start remedial coaching classes from the year 2006 – 07.

The Examination reforms are further strengthened.

Community services:
The College NSS volunteers are always in the forefront for the needy people specially in donation of blood. This year more than 100 units of blood have been donated to Jayadeva Cardiac Hospital & Kidwai Institute of Oncology.

The annual NSS camp was held at Hoskote during January 2007. The NSS volunteers along with Prof. Ataaz& Prof. Ibrahim visited freedom foundation at Hennur an AIDS rehabilitation center.

For the first time the N.C.C unit has enrolled about 16 girl cadets. The NCC cadets attended National Integration camp, Thal Sainik camp & Army attachment camps.

Mr. Mansoor Asrar a III year cadet has been adjudged as the best cadet for the year 2006 – 07

A four day internet programme from 28.12.2006 to 31.12.2006 was organized on request of Government of Karnataka, in this programme Government School students from 7th – 10th standard were given training on Internet browsing.

Improvements in the Library services
A good number of books & Journals have been added to the library. In addition to this Internet facility is also provided to the students.

Student Feedback
Feedback from students was taken for all classes viz B.A, B.Sc & B.Com to know the weakness and strengths of the teachers and to take corrective measures and make teaching more effective & purposeful.

A Committee of three faculty members & Principal was constituted. The committee interacted with individual teachers and suggested corrective measures for enhancement of good work.

The cost of education is Rs. 6,070/-
 
Computerization of administration & the Process of Admission & Examination results issue of certificate
Computerization of administration was further strengthened.
 
Financial Aid to students
About 150 students were admitted with concessional fee which amounting to Rupees 13 lakhs. Apart from this Al-Ameen scholarship committee provided scholarships to about 100 students for poor & deserving students.
 
Health services
The health services are provided to the students, Doctor is available on Call basis.
 
Performance in sports activities
Foot Ball
Football team won the intercollegiate tournament organized by Christ College, Bangalore
Football team won the championship organized by Bangalore University
Football team won the championship organized by St. Johns Medical College, Bangalore.
College Foot ball team participated in International tournament in Malaysia & Thailand.
 
Volley Ball
Volley ball team won the intercollegiate tournament organized by Christ College
Volley ball team won the intercollegiate tournament organized by St. John’s Medical College Bangalore.
 
Athletics
The Athletic team of the College participated in various University & inter-university Athletic Meets.
Md. Mudassir of II B.Com bagged a bronze medal in 100 mts. at All-India inter-university Athletic meet. He is selected to represent India at world Universities Athletic championship held in Germany.
Ms. Jyothi of II B.A bagged bronze medal in 1500 mts. at All India Inter-University Athletic Meet.
Ms. Jyothi of II B.A bagged silver medal in 1500 mts. at National Games held at Guwahati.
Al-Ameen Athletic teams are champions consequently for 21 years in the Bangalore University Inter-collegiate championship.

ING Vysya Bank Ltd. 14th June 2006 Rep. By Mr. Srinivasan and Mrs. Shweta Students were trained resume collected and sent for interview Data base of all final B.Com students given 12 students were selected.
ICICI Bank Ltd. For Financial consultants 20th June 2006 Rep. by Satish Charan, students were trained, resume collected and sent for interview. Data base of all final B.Com students given. 9 students were selected
Progeon. Rep by Nandita Gurjar 29th July 2006 Students were prepared by way of power point lecture as to how they should face interview at Infosys campus at Electronic city. 16 students were selected.
Trade India.. Rep by Vidya Rekha Students were trained, resume collected and sent for interview for placements at New York and other countries for Info.com net work ltd. 18th August 2006. 19 students were selected.
Yahoo Freshers.com Rep by Jai Kumar on 29th September 2006. He was provided data base of all the final degree students. 14 students were selected.
Team lease. Rep by St. Manager Mr. Varghese. He was given data base of final degree students for placements at BOSCH Ltd. On 10th October 2006. 11 students were selected.
Omniscient Global solutions representing for Accenture prepared students for interview on 5th and 6th Nov. 2006 19 students were selected
Alp Management Consultants Rep by GVL Raghava Rao on 9th Feb 2006 interacted with students, to motivate the students, and to prepare them in communication skills. 13 students were selected
DELL Rep. Sushil Kumar presented a power point lecture and conducted a training programme for 20 selected students for 3 weeks in the College Campus. 5 students were selected
KSDL. Rep by CK Akram Pasha Manager Sales and Marketing, held an interactive session with all the biosciences students, and spoke to them about carriers in KSDL
Olive consultancy Rep for ACCENTURE, Mr. Andrew interacted with around 450 students of final degree and trained them for interview at HKBK campus on 23rd March 2006. 6 students were selected
MET LIFE INSURANCE CO. Rep by Rishi Kothari held a series of programmes and groomed the students of commerce to take up interview in MET LIFE 20 students were selected.
 
Development programme for non-teaching staff:
Regular meetings for non-teaching staff were held and they were appraised about the latest University orders and given latest technology updates pertaining to University Examination soft wares.

Dr. Najma Banu, HOD
of Botany & Mrs. Sabiha Sultana, Lecturer Dept. of Botany attended 2 days UGC sponsored seminar-cum-workshop on Herbal Medicine at Women’s Christian College, Chennai.

Prof. R. Mushtaq Ahmed,
Vice-Principal and HOD of Commerce presented a research paper at the National Seminar organized by Nizam College Usmania University.

Dr, Shaheen Taj,
Professor & HOD of Chemistry has been invited to participate in the Round Robin Experiments to develop ASTM standard for Rotating Cylinder Electrode (RCE) and Rotating Cage (RC) for evaluation of corrosion Inhibitors – for oilfield applications.

She attended the 9th National Summit on “Quality in Education” organized by CIL.

She represented the College in the NACE International conference at Nashville USA. She was a Judge for research projects in the Michigan state science fair in USA.

Mr. Sartaj Khan,
Dept. of English under went three months training and has been commissioned as the regular NCC officer.

Prof. Rahmath Ataaz,
HOD of Zoology delivered lecture at Mt. Carmel, Jyothinivas, Christ College, Maharani College, Dayananda Sagar on various topics of Zoology specifically wild life and research opportunities.

Prof. Nizar Ahmed,
Dept. of Commerce presented a paper in the seminar on Tourism at Karwar.

Dr. Shakira Khanum,
HOD of Hindi presented a paper on Bhakti Sahitya at National seminar at Surana College, Bangalore.

Ms. Ayesha Siddiqua, Ms. Seema Roohi, Ms. Syeda Rahath, Mrs. Ishrath Jabeen, Ms. Sunitha Rani & Ms. Nasreen Bano, Lecturers in Dept. of Chemistry have presented research papers in various National & International seminar.
